Frequently asked questions

What areas do you cover?

Why employ a professional Garden Designer?

Garden Designers have a vast amount of specialist horticultural and construction knowledge and suggests ideas that you may not have considered. We make the most of our tricky spaces and challenging conditions and provide a clear, coherent vision for your outdoor space designed to suit your specific needs. It will also save you money in the long run by selecting "the right plant for the right space", purchasing the right amount of materials reducing any waste, reducing the amount of waste and suggesting where your investment is best spent. Also, according to a recent study, a well-designed garden can add significantly increase your property's value as well as your own health and wellbeing. We also source and supply plants from the UK's top plant nurseries that are not open to the general public at a discounted price.

How much does a Garden Designer cost?

First of all, it is important to note that garden design costs are separate from the project build costs. Garden Design fees are calculated as a portion of the overall build costs, typically between 10% - 20% depending on the complexity of the design and type of plans required. However, if all you require is some new ideas, we do offer garden consultations to discuss your existing garden and how it could be improved on a time-spent basis.

Can I use my builder as my landscaper or source my own plants?

You may have an existing relationship with your builder but we would normally advise against using your builder as your landscaper. Landscaping is a highly skilled profession and requires different types of building construction and horticultural experience and knowledge. As part of the design process we can suggest a number of local and trusted landscapers to quote for your build.

How long does it take to design a garden, find a landscaper and build my new garden?

Depending on the size and complexity of your project, you could have your garden design plan within a few weeks. For small gardens, we typically suggest it takes 3 - 6 months from site visit to completion. However, it is not uncommon for landscapers to have a waiting list. For planting-only it can a few weeks. We recommend getting in touch as soon as you can and not leaving it until the first day summer!

What are the maintenance options after completion?

Clients have several maintenance options once the build is complete. We offer an exclusive and competitively priced garden maintenance service on a seasonal or monthly basis, depending on your requirements. Alternatively, for more avid gardeners, we can create an easy-to-follow maintenance guide taking you through each month of the year for an additional cost.

What does a newly-planted garden look like?

Plants take time to establish and there is great joy in watching your garden develop and change over the seasons. Gardens start to mature and look more established from 2 - 5 years. However, if you are looking for an instant garden, more mature and larger plant specimens can be used - although they are more expensive.
